    The Kennedy-Warren (KW) is a historic eleven-story apartment house in Washington, D.C. It is located at 3131-3133 Connecticut Avenue, N.W. between the Cleveland Park and Woodley Park neighborhoods.  One of the exclusive amenities to residents is the KW Club which is open Tuesday through Saturday and provides bar service, hors d'oeuvres, and various events to the residents. This position is to act as the lead bartender, manage the affairs of the KW Club and its members, increase membership and uphold the KW Club guidelines.

    Duties & Responsibilities

     

    • Ensure the KW Club policies are maintained
    • Plan and execute KW Club events within an outlined budget
    • Take reservations for Private Events at the Club or Warren Room, coordinate logistics and communicate to residents
    • Participate in organization and set-up of KW community events and assist with procuring supplies for KW Resident Associatoin Events
    • Oversee the Bartenders’ performance and schedule
    • Coordinate performers schedule and accompanying paperwork for payment
    • Complete Tips Sheet and Micros report
    • Inventory and bookkeeping for the KW Club
    • Increase revenue and membership each year through increased patronage and events
    • Addressing all defects in the KW Club
    • Perform annual reviews of the bartenders with management
    • Greet guests, take beverage orders
    • Mix drinks, cocktails and other bar beverages as ordered and in compliance with company standards
    • Check identification of guests to verify age requirements
    • Handle an assigned house bank and follow all cash handling procedures
    • Collect payment for drinks served and balance all receipts
    • Ensure that the assigned bar area is fully equipped with tools and products needed for mixing beverages and serving guests, prepare inventory or purchase requisitions as needed to replenish supplies
    • Prepare daily Hors d'oeuvre item and display with necessary accompaniments
    • Demonstrate a thorough knowledge of beverage products, menus and promotions
    • Maintain a clean working area by wiping down all surfaces, washing and polishing the glasses, etc. as needed
    • Track all bar inventory and bookkeeping of what needs to be ordered and reconcile invoices to ensure on time payment to vendors
    • Prepare drink garnishes such as lemons, limes, etc.
    • Purchase fruits, cheeses and other food to serve for hors d’oeuvres
    • Prepare all juices and mixes for the cocktails

    Qualifications & Skills

    JOB REQUIREMENTS (SKILLS / ABILITIES):

    • Excellent leadership skills and a self-starter
    • Able to troubleshoot problems and think outside the box.
    • Excellent oral communication skills required
    • Positive interpersonal skills required
    • Must speak English fluently and be able to write in basic English 

     

    EXPERIENCE:

    • Management experience is preferred
    • Previous bartending experience required

     

    EDUCATION / LICENSES / CERTIFICATIONS:     

    • Active ABRA and DCRA approved ABC Bar Manager’s License preferred or acquired within one month of employment (employment contigent upon acquiring the ABC Bar Manager's License)
    • Active TIPS Alcohol Certification required
    • Active SafeServ Food Protection Certification required
    • High school diploma or equivalent experience preferred
