The Intern will work with the integrated Real Estate Investments Group in evaluating new investment opportunities to determine their suitability for ASB’s fund portfolios and participate in the implementation and management of asset level investment strategies. 

Duties & Responsibilities

The evaluation process for new investments will include an assessment of opportunities and risk factors, as well as financial analysis, such as IRR and discounted cash flow analysis.   Duties will include site inspections, property cash flow modeling in Excel and Argus, and participating in the due diligence process, which includes tenant credit analysis, drafting detailed lease abstracts, third party report reviews, lease and loan document reviews, market analysis, and competitive positioning.  The Intern should understand the entire due diligence process and independently and proactively contribute to the process through closing.  In addition, the Intern will contribute to the preparation of Investment Committee Memorandums and participate in presentations.


Asset management duties will include site inspections, preparing Excel and Argus cash flow models to perform hold/sell analysis on existing real estate investments, managing all aspects of assets’ operations by local partners, reviewing and managing operating budgets, drafting annual business plans, analyzing quarterly appraisals, reviewing partnership, management, and loan documents, and analyzing and negotiating  prospective leases.

Work experience in investment management, banking, consulting, or real estate prior to entering a MBA program is desired.  The Intern should have a working knowledge of the principles of asset valuation, the investment acquisition process, and asset management.  A proactive attitude, strong work ethic, and exceptional listening, written and oral communication, analytical, and computer skills, including Excel, are a must.  Experience with Argus DCF is preferred, but not required.




Working towards a bachelor's degree is required for undergraduate interns and a third year student is preferred. A bachelor's degree is required for graduate interns and a first year MBA student is preferred.
